Week tip: Cats, coffee and vintage

30 Oct 2017

No idea what to do during the upcoming week? Our week tippers know what to do! This week, Johanna Bohman recommends going to a catwalk event at cat cafe Balthazar.

Going to a café, restaurant or pub is a great way to relax with friends and explore new places, but some offer a little something extra. The kattencafé, or cat café, Balthazar is located in the city center of Nijmegen and offers a typical café atmosphere with a twist: cats. While you are enjoying a coffee, cats are walking around freely, playing or sleeping in hidden spots.

Going to cat café Balthazar for me was a soothing and different experience, in a way that the interior was very modern, yet cozy and warm like your next-door neighbours living room. At this place you don’t sit at your table all the time. Instead, the atmosphere invites you to regularly get up from your seat and go cuddle with some of the adorable felines wandering about. Though that may sound hectic, there is nothing more soothing than a cats purring against your leg while you enjoy a nice chai latte and apple pie.

Balthazar also organises events. This Thursday, they host Catwalk Night where you can enjoy an evening with clothes swapping and a vintage sale.
