Overnight from Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9, two people were injured in a stabbing incident on Graafseweg. A 20-year-old man from Nijmegen was arrested. Police are still searching for witnesses who were in the area shortly before and after the incident. Two of them are believed to be Radboud University students.

The stabbing occurred around 2 a.m. The two injured victims were taken to the hospital, and police arrested a 20-year-old suspect from Nijmegen. He is currently being held in custody. Police are investigating the events leading up to the stabbing.

“We are looking for two women who spoke with the suspect shortly after the incident,” police said in an appeal posted online. “They spoke English to the suspect. This took place near Keizer Karelplein. They may have important information for the investigation.”

In a statement to Vox, a police spokesperson said the two witnesses are believed to be women studying at Radboud University. However, police are also asking anyone else who may have seen or heard something to come forward. In the appeal, police emphasized that ‘all information, no matter how insignificant it may seem,’ could be important to the investigation.

Before the stabbing, two people were reportedly cycling along Graafseweg toward the traffic lights at Willemsweg. The suspect chased them for a short distance. Police are also explicitly looking for these two cyclists.
